JUNIOR ARCHERS BRACE FOR GAME AGAINST UST TIGER CUBS
After taming the NU Bull Pups in a knockout game, the Junior Archers are now training hard for their game against the UST Tiger Cubs on Saturday, September 11, 2010, 4:00pm at the San Juan ARENA. DLSZ is currently assured of a Third Place finish in the on-going final four series of the UAAP Juniors Basketball Championships, thanks to the complete team effort of the players and their coaches. DLSZ is counting on the support of the entire Lasallian community to rally behind the Junior Archers as they aim their arrows at their growling opponents on Saturday. Come to the game in your greenest shirts and once again shout your loudest ANIMO LA SALLE and REKTIKANO!!!
ONE MILLION TREES PROJECT SURPASSES HALF MILLION MARK
"The Green for Life: One Million Trees and Beyond (OMTB) project initiated by Br. Armin Luistro and the Lasallian Institute for the Environment (LIFE) hit 610,694 seedlings planted as of end of February, 2010. The project aims to plant one million trees around the Philippines by June 2011, in time for the celebration of DLSU's centennial, OMTB was officially launched last September 26, 2006 at the Mt. Palay-palay National Park in Cavite planting about 1,000 seedlings participated by about 400 volunteers from the different La Salle schools in Luzon led by Br. Armin Luistro. Later, through two (2) national planning workshops involving the seventeen (17) La Salle schools in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the project rolled out to cover uplands and mangroves all across the country. more..

In commemoration of the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, DLSZ will be having flower offering and serenading with Marian songs during the 7:20 mass on September 8, 2010 at the Our Lady of the Star Chapel.Everyone is invited to come and celebrate as one Lasallian family.

ISAIAH MIGUEL DIZON LEADS ALASKA IRONKIDS TRIATHLON
Swimming athlete Isaiah Miguel Dizon (DLSZ 2015) finished first in the Alaska IronKids Triathlon held last August 21-22, 2010 at Camsur Watersports Complex (CWC) in Camarines Sur. The Alaska Ironkids Philippines is the children’s version of the prestigious Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines. Together with Isaiah are 56 other kids who battled in 100 meters of swimming, three kilometers of biking and one kilometer of running.Isaiah topped the 11-12 years old category with a finishing time of 33:47.0.
DLSZ TAKES 1ST-RUNNER UP IN DANCE COMPETITION
Congratulations to the members of DLSZ’s G-Zone Dance Club for having won FIRST RUNNER UP in the Cultural Dance Fusion Competition on September 3, 2010 at the SM Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City.The dance contest, participated in by several schools, was organized by WOW Philippines as part of its 21st Philippine Travel Mart. Contest participants performed traditional dances with contemporary feel to it as a tribute to the Filipinos’ unique culture.Formerly known as La Salle Dance Crew, the dance club was represented by Cai Gecana, Angelica Ilustre, Pam Cabuslay, Kristine Algenio, Chin Francisco, Ana Jose, Leesee Bayaborda, Matthew Soriano, Timothy Soriano, Gio De Leon, and Monchoy De Leon.Once again, congratulations, girls, and kudos to your dance coach, Mr. Mark Mendoza and to his co-moderator, Mr. Edison Manalo!

The final four elimination rounds for the Season 73 UAAP Junior Basketball title will start on Tuesday, 07 September 2010, 4:00pm at the San Juan Fil-oil ARENA where the Junior Archers will launch a knockout game against the NU Bull Pups. If they make it against NU under the "ladder format", their next game on Saturday will be against the UST Tiger Cubs who enjoys a twice to beat advantage.Once again, we call on all true-blooded Lasallians to support our team by showing up at the Arena in their greenest shirts. Let the spirit behind One La Salle echo through the stadium as we shout, “ANIMO LA SALLE!!”
DLSZ EXTENDS PROCESSING OF CSB ADMISSIONS APPLICATION
DLSZ's School Counseling Office continues to facilitate the processing of the second batch of college application to De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (DLS-CSB) until September 24, 2010. Senior high school students who are interested to apply may pay the application fee at the Accounting Office and present the receipt to their level counselor, Ms. Maricel Ilag. After the Sept. 24 deadline, students will have to pay directly at CSB to get the application form(s)/kit. Online application is also available via http://www.dls-csb.edu.ph/admissions.asp

16 DLSZ ALUMNI PASS PHYSICIAN LICENSURE EXAMINATION
Congratulations to our alumni who passed the 2010 Physician Licensure Examination. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 1,597 out of 2,300 (69.43%) passed the Physician (Complete and Finals with Prelims) Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medicine in the cities of Manila, Cebu and Davao this August 2010.

MIKEE ALORA OLONDRIZ RANKS 3RD IN PHOTOJOURNALISM CONTEST
DLSZ extends its congratulations to Mikee Alora Olondriz (DLSZ 2012) for winning third place in the 7th National Youth Congress Photojournalism Contest held last August 28, 2010 at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.Mikee’s winning entry was entitled, “Green Coins”. She received a cash prize and certificate from the organizers.
