De La Salle - Santiago Zobel, is one of the De La Salle Schools in the Philippines founded by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, also known as FRATRES SCHOLARUM CHRISTIANARUM. The FSC is a congregation dedicated to educating founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle.

The first De La Salle School in the Philippines was opened on June 16, 1911 on General Luna Paco, Manila at the request of the Archbishop of Manila. In 1921, the school was moved to its present site on Taft Avenue. The brothers have since opened schools in Greenhills, Mandaluyong City; Antipolo, Rizal; Lipa, Batangas; Bacolod, Negros Occidental; Iligan, Lanao del Norte; Dasmariñas, Cavite and Alabang, Muntinlupa City. They have also undertaken supervision of some schools in Manila, Cavite, Bataan, Cebu, Bukidnon, Surigao del Sur, Negros Occidental, Masbate, Capiz and Ozamis. These schools are known as De La Salle Supervised Schools.

De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, a member of the DLSU System, was established on March 29, 1978 to meet the objective of moving the elementary department of De La Salle University on Taft Avenue to a more conducive and suitable learning environment with a high school department to assure grade school graduates of placement in secondary education. Located at the heart of Ayala Alabang Village, De La Salle Santiago Zobel answers the educational needs of Southern Metro Manila for quality basic education. Furthermore, the establishment of the school was in response to the government's program of educational dispersion particularly in Metro Manila and, in keeping with the commitment of the Brothers of the Christian School of the Philippines to make their resources and facilities available to as many communities where there is a growing need for more educational institutions with high scholastic standard.

The school opened in June 1978 with Prep to Grade Six Levels. With the addition of Grade 7 the following year, the Grade School department became fully operational in June 1979. In June 1980, the High School Department opened with out freshman classes and became fully operational in June 1983. Since then, DLSZ has been producing excellent La Sallians, both as responsible citizens and as laborers in the service of our Lord.

The De La Salle - Santiago Zobel School produces nothing but the best. No compromises.

SANTIAGO ZOBEL

Jacobo Santiago Zobel, after whom the school is named, was the eldest son of Enrique Zobel who was then President of Ayala Corporation when the School was established. The School was made possible through the generous donation of part of the site by Ayala Corporation and the Madrigal Family and through financing by Filipinas Life Assurance Company.

Santi was born on August 15, 1954. As a student, he was always willing to try to learn. His greatest gift was the ability to make friends and to share with them the wonders of his little world.

Santi died of pneumonia on September 7, 1965 at the age of 11.
