TIE A YELLOW RIBBON FOR CORY AQUINO
July 28, 2009

"Rekindle the flame of democracy that Corazon Aquino began. Believe that the Filipino is worth dying for. Tie a yellow ribbon today!”

DLSZ is enjoining all like-minded individuals to manifest their support for Ninoy Aquino’s ailing widow by offering prayers and tying yellow ribbons around trees or at residential gates. Tita Cory, as Mrs. Aquino is fondly called, has been battling colon cancer since March 2008. She is presently confined at the Makati Medical Center.

The school will also hold a mass with special intention for Tita Cory on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 7:30 in the morning at the Our Lady of the Star Chapel. After the mass, everyone is invited to join volunteer faculty, staff, students, and parishioners in tying yellow ribbons at the DLSZ Gates 1, 2, 3, 5 & 7.

Tita Cory is known worldwide as an icon of democracy. From a plain housewife to a Presidential candidate during the Snap Elections, she played a pivotal role in the staging of a peaceful People Power Revolution and helped bring the Philippines back on its feet after the dictatorial rule under Ferdinand Marcos.

She was Time Magazine’s Woman of the Year in 1986 and was a recipient of the 1998 Ramon Magsaysay Award for International Understanding.

“Hindi ka nag-iisa, Tita Cory!” In your grave battle against cancer, know that we are one with you in prayer.
