DLSZ COMPUTER AND SCIENCE LABORATORIES GET OVER-ALL FACE-LIFT August 11, 2009
As part of the school’s priorities for the year, the Computer and Science Laboratories underwent physical improvements and technological upgrading. Computer Laboratory 1 was fully renovated and its computers were upgraded to Dell Notebooks. While the lighting and windows were noticeably improved, Labs 2 & 3 now boast of LCD monitors. Aside from the wooden flooring installed in the E-Classroom, one can easily notice the LCD monitors that now sit on the consoles. Best of all, students can now get acquainted with Apple technology by using the newly installed Macbooks in the Cybernook, now aptly called the inook.
The Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science laboratories for the High School and the Integrated Science Laboratory for the Grade School were all reconfigured and installed with new lab tables equipped with laptops and digital probewares for computer-interfaced experiments. With the acquisition of Vernier equipment, students can now conduct computer-interfaced experiments in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Science. Even the teacher’s table in each lab was redesigned for class-wide demonstrations. Each lab is also equipped with safety devices such as the eyewash fountains and emergency showers. New cabinets in the laboratories and the stockrooms were also installed. With all these physical improvements and technological upgrades, the school was able to use efficient space and, more importantly, to save on power. Thanks to the Information Systems and Technology Services Office (ISTS) and the Science Departments which spearheaded this project, the students can now enjoy technological advancement in a more conducive environment.
